TABER, AB — The Town of Taber is currently monitoring the ongoing overland flooding in the surrounding area.

“The Town is making necessary preparations and is ready to declare a state of local emergency if necessary,” a news release said. “At this time, however, that step has not been taken.”

The Municipal District of Taber has been dealing with overland flooding this week due to snow accumulation and the subsequent spring melt. Several roads in the region have closed due to the flooding.

-Range Road 15-3 between Township Road 10-0 and 9-2

-Township Road 9-2 between Range Road 19-0 and 18-2

-Range Road 18-3 from Highway 3 to Township Road 10-0

-Range Road 17-2 north of Township Road 10-0

-Township Road 8-4 from Range Road 17-4 to 17-2

-Township Road 9-4 from Range Road 14-5 to 14-3

-Township Road 9-4 from Range Road 17-0 to 17-1

The town says crews are actively working on clearing ditches and drainage areas to help the water flow. Residents are being asked to check drainage on or around their properties to make sure they are clear and so water can reach the drains. If residents see issues with overland flooding within the town, they’re asked to call 403-223-5500.
