MEDICINE HAT, AB — The Medicine Hat Tigers will likely be without Dylan MacPherson for much of the WHL playoffs.

The Redcliff defenceman was injured following a knee-on-knee collision with Brandon Wheat Kings forward Baron Thompson midway through the first period during Friday’s game.

According to head coach and general manager Shaun Clouston, MacPherson’s injury is “fairly significant.”

“He’s on crutches, he hasn’t got an MRI,” he said. “He’s going to see the doctor today, and we’re going to find out more after that, and we don’t expect it to be good news.”

Thompson has since been suspended by the WHL for his hit, and did not play Sunday.

Fellow defenceman Linus Nassen also left Friday’s game with an injury. Clouston says Nassen remains day-to-day.

Defenceman Daniel Baker has been called up to help the Tigers. Baker, who is currently a member of the Northern Alberta Extreme in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League, has played in 11 games for the Tigers this year, scoring one assist.

Game three goes in Dauphin on Tuesday night. The puck drops at 6:30 p.m.
