Provincial budget includes marijuana revenue for first time
MEDICINE HAT, AB. – For decades the oil and gas sector has been pumping money into Alberta’s economy.
The province is striving to diversify and cannabis revenue is being factored into Alberta’s budget, with 26 million dollars in taxes expected to be collected once marijuana is legalized.
The province said it will not be seen as a revenue generator until a few years after legalization to cover the costs of changing the laws and keeping marijuana out of the hands of children.
