FREDERICTON, NB – Seven former members of the Medicine Hat Tigers can call themselves Canadian collegiate champions with the University of Alberta Golden Bears.

The Golden Bears rallied from a 2-0 deficit against the St. Francis Xavier X-Men on Sunday to capture the 2018 U Sports hockey championship 3-2.

Former Tigers forwards Clayton Kirichenko, Cole Sanford, and Steven Owre had one assist each in the victory, which is the 16th Canadian title in the school’s history.

Four other ex-Tigers joined in the celebration, with forwards Jayden Hart and Trevor Cox, defenceman Dylan Bredo, and goaltender Kenny Cameron all earning the national title.

For Bredo and Hart it’s their second U Sports championship, while the rest are celebrating their first Canadian collegiate win.
