StFX beats UNB, Alberta tops Saskatchewan to advance to men’s hockey final
FREDERICTON — A pair of overtime victories Saturday decided who will play for the David Johnston University Cup.
The StFX X-Men advanced to the Canadian university men’s hockey final with a 5-4 win over the UNB Varsity Reds and the Alberta Golden Bears topped the Saskatchewan Huskies 3-2 in the second semifinal.
The championship game is scheduled for Sunday.
Adam Stevens scored 9:13 into overtime to lead the X-Men. Holden Cook had a goal and an assist and Anthony Difruscia, Santino Centorame and Cole MacDonald also scored. Michael Clarke had three assists.
