Couple in Standoff arrested on drug charges

STANDOFF, AB — The Blood Tribe Police Service have arrested a common law couple on multiple drug related charges.

Fernando Morning Owl, 40, along with Olivia Bull Calf, were arrested on Wednesday on multiple charges. Morning Owl has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime.

Bull Calf was charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Police also executed a search warrant on the couple’s home, seizing fentanyl and suboxone pills, along with cash and cell phones.

Morning Owl was remanded into custody, and was scheduled to appear in Lethbridge Provincial Court on Friday.

Bull Calf was released, and is set to appear in Cardston Provincial Court on May 7.

The arrests come as the Blood Tribe has declared a state of emergency due to multiple opioid overdoses in the community.
