SACKVILLE, NB — The Medicine Hat College Rattlers will not be coming home with a Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association medal.

Taking on the Capilano University Blues in a bronze medal quarterfinal game at the CCAA women’s basketball championship Friday afternoon, the Rattlers found themselves trailing early, and were unable to close the gap, losing 76-64.

Courtney Henry led the Rattlers with 15 points, while teammate Jordyn Kearley scored 12 points.

Reiko Ohama and Carmelle M’bikita each had 16 points for the Blues. Sherri Errico also scored 14 points, while Emma Cunningham scored 12.

The loss knocks the Rattlers out of medal contention, and they will now be playing for pride on Saturday.

Saturday’s game is a rematch of the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference championship against the St. Mary’s University Lightning to determine the seventh and eighth place teams.

In the ACAC Championship, the Rattlers were defeated 77-66.

The game gets underway at 2 p.m. Atlantic Daylight Time (11 a.m. Mountain Standard Time). A link to watch the game can be found here.
