Wildcats win first game at provincials

MEDICINE HAT, AB — The Medicine Hat Wildcats came out strong during the first game of the Hockey Alberta Peewee Provincials Thursday night.

Hosting the Lethbridge Cyclones at the Kinplex, the girls hockey team scored early, and applied pressure in the second period, coming away with a 5-2 victory.

Jayda Becker had two goals and two assists for the Wildcats during the game, while teammate Brianna Finke had one goal and one assist. Kennedy Sisson and Riley Gramlich each scored one goal, while Leila Schultz had two assists.

Taya Christie earned the victory in net, making 24 saves.

Mayz Vance and Ava Hopkins had the two goals for the Cyclones.

The Wildcats return to action Friday afternoon for their second round robin game. They take on the Innisfail Flyers at 2:45 p.m. at the Kinplex.
