MEDICINE HAT, AB — A man awaiting trail for second-degree murder had has case adjourned for the third straight month.

Luke Boxell, 22, was scheduled to be arraigned in Medicine Hat Court of Queen’s Bench, but his lawyer asked for an adjournment until April 13 to continue reviewing disclosure from the preliminary hearing.

Boxell, along with Leonard Beaulieu, 25, were arrested and charged with second degree murder in connection with the murder of Jordan Pede.

Pede, 24, was found suffering from a gunshot wound in Strathcona Island Park on New Year’s Eve. He died 11 days later in a Calgary hospital.

Boxell was arrested and charged on January 25 and Beaulieu was arrested on Feb. 13 in Winnipeg.

Boxell’s arraignment was first booked for January 12, but has been adjourned each time. The arraignment would see the charge read before the court, Boxell entering a plea and a trail date being set.

A 12-day trial has been set for Beaulieu, and will take place in Medicine Hat from January 7-22, 2019.
