MEDICINE HAT, AB — A former college basketball player arrested last November had his charge dropped in Medicine Hat provincial court on Monday.

Collin Ralko 22, appeared in provincial court, where his charge of assault with a weapon was withdrawn.

Ralko, along with fellow teammate Kieron Burgess, were arrested on November 25.

Police received a call that an airsoft rifle was fired from a moving vehicle in the 400 block of North Railway Street, hitting a pedestrian and causing minor injuries.

Ralko and Burgess were both members of the Medicine Hat College Rattlers men’s basketball team at the time the incident occurred, and were both suspended.

Last month, an absolute discharge was granted for Burgess, 24, who pleaded guilty.

It means no conviction is registered, but the discharge will remain on his record for one year before it is expunged.
