MEDICINE HAT, AB — A woman who pleaded guilty to several drug charges learned her sentence in Medicine Hat provincial court.

Siofean Coderre appeared in Medicine Hat provincial court on Tuesday, where she received an 18 month prison sentence, followed by 18 months of probation on charges of trafficking a controlled substance, possession of stolen property under $5,000 and possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Coderre, 43, was arrested last May, along with Paul Rasmussen, after the Medicine Hat Police Service’s organized crime team seized more than $33,000 worth of methamphetamine following a short investigation.

Police seized a total of 325 grams of methamphetamine, along with 100 oxycodone pills, one gram of heroin, 3.5 grams of cocaine, a replica handgun, a loaded, prohibited magazine and other ammunition.

Coderre entered the guilty pleas in July, and was scheduled to be sentenced on October 4, but did not appear in court. She was later arrested and returned to Medicine Hat.

Rasmussen, 45, also did not appear for his scheduled sentencing, and was arrested in Ontario in November on separate charges.

As part of her sentence, Coderre also received a lifetime firearms prohibition.
