Feb 27, 2018 | 12:46 PM

OTTAWA— Instant Pot is asking customers to not use a particular model of its multi-cooker due to reports some cookers are overheating and melting.

Last week, the company posted on Facebook that they had received a “small number of reports” of the Gem 65 8-in-1 Multicooker overheating, causing localized melting damage to the underside of the product.

The company believes the problem only affects batchcodes 1728, 1730, 1731, 1734 and 1746. The company is asking customers who own a multi-cooker with the batchcodes listed above to immediately stop use of the product.

The batchcode is located on a silver label on the underside of the product, located at the bottom right of the label.

The company, founded in 2009, has soared in popularity in the past year, and was one of the most popular Christmas gifts for adults in 2017.

The product has not been officially recalled, bu the company says they are working with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. Instant Pot says they “anticipate providing updated information and next steps regarding receiving a replacement Gem 65 8-in-1 Multicooker within the next few weeks.”
