Mohawks & Kwahommies go winless over four games Friday

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Four games for Medicine Hat High School’s basketball teams on Friday night, stumbling into the weekend with four losses.

Both the Senior and Junior Varsity Mohawks teams were at home Friday, playing host to the LCI Rams out of Lethbridge.

Four Mohawks broke double-digits against the Rams, but the senior boys team dropped an 81-64 decision to fall to 3-7 on the year.

Guard Reece Mulder had 14 points for the Mohawks in the loss, while Eidan Jonker, Justin Maser, and Bailey Gosse combined for 32 points.

A 93-61 loss for the JV Mohawks as well, losing their eighth of the year to the Rams and dropping to a 2-8 record. Artchie Belza had 14 points for Medicine Hat, with Emad Ibrahim contributing 12 points.

Both Mohawks teams are on the road Saturday night, facing the Cardston High Cougars.

A rough night for the Senior Kwahommies as well, losing their only game of the weekend 83-56 to the Magrath High Pandas.

Rhiannon Ware and Brooklyn Kaczynski combined for 37 points, but weren’t enough to prevent the team from falling to 4-6.

Medicine Hat suffered a loss in the JV game as well on Friday, losing a 67-54 contest to the Pandas.

Just two Kwahommies were able to reach double-digits in points, with Taya Karsten and Emma Wintoniak combining for 31 points.

Dropping to a 4-6 record, the JV Kwahommies and their senior team counterparts head to Cardston on Monday.
