PYEONGCHANG, KOREA – Two Medicine Hat Tigers alum will be returning from the 2018 Winter Olympics with medals hanging around their necks.

Forward Linden Vey and head coach Willie Desjardins helped Team Canada to a 6-4 win over the Czech Republic on Saturday morning in the bronze medal match.

Captain Chris Kelly had a pair of goals, including the eventual game-winner for Canada, while Vey was held off the score sheet in the victory.

The bronze served as redemption for the Canadians following a shocking 4-3 upset at the hands of Team Germany in the semi-finals on Friday.

It’s the first Olympic medal for both Vey and Desjardins, and continues Canada’s streak of three straight Olympics with a medal in men’s hockey dating back to 2010.

Dressing in all six of Canada’s games, Vey racked up one assist and two penalty minutes on his way to a bronze medal.

The 29th medal of the Pyeongchang Games for Canada, it’s the best finish ever at a Winter Olympics for the country.

The Olympic Athletes from Russia and Germany tangle on Saturday night in the gold medal match.
