LETHBRIDGE, AB. – The family of two of the men in a Piper Lance aircraft from New Dayton, Alberta, that went missing Thursday night, Feb. 22, in the south-western U.S., have confirmed that the plane went down with no survivors.

In a statement posted on the Kaupp Family Farms’ Facebook page Friday evening, Feb. 23, they noted that American rescue teams picked up a signal from the emergency beacon in Dove Creek, Colorado. A short time later they posted the following:

“It is with a heavy heart that I must announce that the plane has been located with no survivors. I want to tell everyone how much I appreciate the sharing, good wishes and all the condolences given over today. There’s still a lot of good in this very scary world. In the future I will talk about how great the four people that we lost were to everyone that knew them, but for now we are going to grieve. Thank you everybody”

Through the Facebook page earlier in the day, the Kaupp family said four people – family members Bill Kaupp and Clint Kaupp along with two friends – were on board the plane as it took off from Grand Junction, Colorado Thursday morning around 10 a.m., headed for Albuquerque, New Mexico.
