Tigers look to snap road-skid in Cranbrook

Feb 23, 2018 | 10:28 AM

Medicine Hat have dropped six straight games on the road, their last away victory coming January 24th in Edmonton.

The Tigers can snap that skid Friday night and sweep a double-header against the Kootenay ICE. Medicine Hat took Tuesday’s nights match 3-1 at the Canalta Centre. The Tigers lead the season series 4-2-0.

Kootenay is still clinging on to their playoff hopes, they are two points back of the Red Deer Rebels who have a game in hand on the ICE. The Rebels dropped a 6-4 decision in Calgary Wednesday.

The Tigers have eleven games left in the regular season and hold a three point lead on the Lethbridge Hurricanes for top spot in the Central division. While the Hurricanes have a game in hand on Medicine Hat, they are coming of a crushing 8-2 loss on home-ice to the Prince Albert Raiders.

Florida Panthers draft-pick Linus Nassen, who’s missed the last 22 games with a broken bone near his wrist, is now listed as day-to-day and might dress this weekend (although it remains unlikely.) Head Coach Shaun Clouston says he’s hopeful for next week’s game in Edmonton.

Jordan Hollett has finally rejoined the team after spending a couple weeks in British Columbia. He suffered a lower body injury at the beginning of the month, but still remains three to four weeks away.

Medicine Hat won their only game in Cranbrook 5-4 in overtime back on January 1st, a game where the ICE erased a 4-1 deficit in third period. James Hambin had two goals and Mark Rassell pitched in with three points in the victory.

Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m.
