Police on lookout for jewellery thief in Medicine Hat

MEDICINE HAT, AB. – There are have been reports of a jewellery theft scam to Medicine Hat Police and they are asking for the public’s assistance on locating individuals involved.

The suspects have been been entering into jewellery stores in typically teams of two (father/son, husband/wife, mother/son) and asking to see a piece of jewellery.

When they are conversing with the sales staff, the suspects will ask to see the article, followed by use of slight of hand or distraction technique to conceal the item while the other suspect counts or shows a large amount of cash.

The suspects then state they will be back with more cash to complete the purchase and leave with the jewellery item concealed.

The multiple suspects are described as having thick European accent, the male is well dressed with a trimmed goatee, short dark hair, blue contact lenses and approximately 30 years of age. The woman described as being in her late 50 to early 60 years of age, wearing dark clothing and medium length hair.
