Generals down Cubs in first playoff game

MEDICINE HAT, AB — The Medicine Hat Travelodge Cubs find themselves in a deep hole in the first round of the Heritage Junior Playoff League playoffs.

Taking on the Cochrane Generals in the first game of their playoff series, the Cubs were downed 17-0, and now face a do-or-die game Saturday night.

Jarod Dominigo led the Generals with four goals and two assists, while Talus Hume had three goals and Walid Hassin scored two. Brandon Aab had five assists for the Generals.

Goaltender Knute Loe stopped all 20 shots he faced.

Josh Breznik made 57 saves through the game.

The first round of HJHL playoffs are a best-of-three series, and the Cubs need to win Saturday to continue their season. Puck drop is set for 7:45 p.m. at the Kinplex.

If a Game 3 is needed, it will be played Sunday in Cochrane at 5:30 p.m.
