MEDICINE HAT, AB — The Medicine Hat Catholic Board of Education has approved the boundaries and attendance zones for the new École St. John Paul II School.

During the board meeting on Tuesday, trustees voted to set the boundaries for the new French immersion school, which is under construction and slated to open this fall.

The attendance area for regular education includes the area East of 13th Avenue, South of the Trans Canada, north of the city boundary which includes Southlands; Dunmore and the Rural 2 component. A map can be found here. http://www.mhcbe.ab.ca/documents/general/Division%20School%20Boundaries.pdf

Desert Blume will not be part of the attendance boundary for the school, as it is currently zoned for St. Patrick’s School.

The school will draw from the entire area for its French immersion program.

The board voted last month to close École St. Thomas d’Aquin , which currently offers French immersion for students from kindergarten to Grade 6.
