Trial set for man charged with assault last year

MEDICINE HAT, AB — The man charged in connection with a home invasion and assault in a Southview Drive apartment last October will go to trial this summer.
The trial for Darren George Brooks, 37, will take place at Medicine Hat provincial court on June 8.
Brooks was arrested on November 10, and was charged with break and enter, aggravated assault, uttering threats, and unauthorized possession of a firearm in connection with the alleged assault of a man in October.
On October 28, officers responded to the apartment complex on 2399 Southview Drive SE on where a man was found suffering from serious injuries in a main floor apartment.
