MEDICINE HAT, AB — Medicine Hat police were kept busy Monday morning with a single vehicle rollover on the Trans-Canada Highway.

A 1997 Jeep Cherokee was travelling east at the Saamis Drive Northwest Overpass when the driver, a 17-year-old male, lost control and collided with a guardrail, causing the vehicle to roll. The driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The two passengers reported no injuries. All occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision.

Police say speed and equipment violations are contributing factors in the collision.

Drivers are advised to adjust their driving habits to the conditions and reminded that bridges and overpasses freeze before other sections of the road surface, which can create a sudden change of road surface conditions.

Officers also remind drivers that they need to slow down to 60 kilometres/hour while passing emergency vehicles on the highway.
