MEDICINE HAT, AB — The Medicine Hat Catholic Board of Education has scheduled a special meeting to once again discuss the potential closure of École St. Thomas d’Aquin.

The board is holding the meeting on January 30 at the Catholic Board Office, a decision made during the board’s most recent meeting on Tuesday.

The meeting will discuss the decision made by the board in December to consider closing École St. Thomas d’Aquin, and moving the French immersion program to the new St. John Paul II School, which is currently under construction and is scheduled to open in the fall of 2018.

The board hosted a public meeting on Monday that was well attended, and heard feedback from parents, while explaining the reason for the decision. The proposed closure was also on the agenda at the board’s last regular meeting on Tuesday.
