Mad Hatter & Happy Hatter – Jan 8

Mad Hatter
At the lights by Division near Safeway I saw two cars (two separate occasions in the same day) go through a red light, treating it like a stop sign. Who in their right mind would think that a red light could be treated the same as a stop sign? The light is triggered and quick, if you waited one minute it would change for you. Where are our red-light cameras then?

Mad Hatter
The City’s new recycling program will increase service fees.  Did the city look at alternatives first before increasing fees? Reduction of weekly garbage to biweekly, alternating with recycling biweekly.  Bi-monthly utilities bills to cut down admin costs? Charging for paper bills, like other monthly fees companies do?  Or did they say this seems easiest to just charge more.

Happy Hatter
To see more local products available.  Shopping where local produce and local products can be bought is good for economy, keeps jobs here.

Mad Hatter
Another chain store charging for bags.  I would like to see one take the incentive to charge less for Not Taking bags.

Mad Hatter
Frustrated with people who are fooled into thinking that the carbon tax is anything but the government taking more of our money.  The carbon tax did not have anything to do with getting pipelines approved (just ask the mayor of Montreal).  We may be leaders by imposing this on ourselves before the Federal government did, but is that really a good thing?  If the Federal government was a firing squad, would we want to pull the trigger before them, just so we could say we are in control of our own destiny? Governments (and certain sectors of the public) need to understand that Tax money belongs to those who earn it, and the government doesn’t have a RIGHT to it.  Change is best brought about by education and information, not by taxing people.

Mad Hatter
Annoyed that the price of gas for 2018 is expected to be so high. Not only that but you know there is a problem when all Canada has to say is that it’s “out of our control”.

Mad Hatter

Feeding people 1 meal over Christmas does not mean they had food and a warm bed for the rest of the holidays.

Happy Hatter
Happy that a certain councillor is no longer on city council. Can only imagine what messes and poor decisions you are making now.

Happy Hatter
Great to see all the good news recently about Alberta being on the upswing! Thank you to the NDP government for helping us successfully weather the global economic downturn (without massive cuts to public services – health, safety, and education) and come out on top once again.
