MEDICINE HAT, AB — A defenceman acquired by the Medicine Hat Tigers in October will suit up with the orange and black for the first time tonight.

Eric Van Impe is in the lineup for the Medicine Hat Tigers as they host the Edmonton Oil Kings at the Canalta Centre tonight, and will wear number 3.

Van Impe, 16, was acquired by the Tigers along with Hayden Ostir when Zach Fischer was traded to the Spokane Chiefs in October. He has been playing with the Calgary Northstars Midget AAA team since being acquired by the Tigers, where he has scored 8 goals and 13 assists in 21 games with the team.

Van Impe’s call up comes following a recent rash of injuries to the team. Ostir is week to week with a broken hand, while defenceman Linus Nassen is out for six-to-eight weeks after breaking his radial bone near his wrist.
