MEDICINE HAT, AB — A former camp counsellor has entered a guilty plea to a child pornography charge in Medicine Hat provincial court on Tuesday.

Nolan Davidson, 25, pleaded guilty to one count of accessing child pornography, according to court documents.

Davidson was arrested on September 7 at a home in Crestwood following a child pornography investigation which began in November 2016. The investigation began after the U.S. Centre for Missing and Exploited Children passed on information about a social media user uploading child pornography. Police seized a number of electronic devices during the investigation.

On social media, Davidson was listed as working at Eagles Nest Ranch, a summer camp located in the Cypress Hills. The ranch issued a statement following the arrest, noting he was employed in 2013 as a summer camp director, and added there is no evidence to suggest any offences were committed against children who attended the camp.

Davidson was also charged with one count of possession of child pornography, which according to the court, a plea has not yet been entered.

Davidson is due back in court on March 14, 2018 for sentencing on the accessing child pornography charge. It is expected a plea will be entered on the possession charge as well.
