MEDICINE HAT, AB – Three medals for Medicine Hat’s three teams competing over the weekend at the Medicine Hat Pee Wee CAHL Tournament.

The Medicine Hat Hounds White, Hounds Black, and Hounds Orange teams were all awarded bronze medals on Sunday, capping off three days of tournament play.

Team Hounds White were able to roll to a 4-1 win over the Olds Pee Wee Grizzlies to claim the bronze, outshooting Olds by a 30-19 count in their final game.

Captain and right winger Jeffrey Bullock said it was great being able to showcase their skills in front of friends and family over the weekend.

“It just feels good,” said Bullock. “Having everyone come and watch, and [say] like, ‘This team, they succeeded and we know that they can do good.’”

A third-place showing for Medicine Hat Hounds Black as well, defeating the Coaldale Cobras on Sunday to bring home some hardware.

Hounds captain Gavin Weisgerber said it’s disappointing not to win the top prize, but was pleased with the way his Medicine Hat club played on Sunday.

“It was a fun game, but I thought it should have been a gold,” said Weisgerber. “But, a couple of goals made a difference.”

Medicine Hat’s third medal of the day came at the Moose Recreation Centre, when Medicine Hat Hounds Orange defeated the Drumheller Raptors by a 5-3 score.

The Blackfalds Bulldogs brought home the gold in the McDonald Division final with a 7-5 win over the Springbank Rockies.

In the Linden Division, the Maple Creek Hawks had to settle for silver in a 6-1 loss to Bow River.

And the Calgary Mavericks were crowned Medicine Hat champions on Sunday, winning gold by a 7-4 final score over the Chestermere Lakers.
