BROOKS, AB – A furious third period comeback fell just short for the SEAC Bantam AAA Tigers on Saturday afternoon, losing to the Leduc Oil Kings in Brooks.

The lone goal of the first period came six minutes into the frame on the power play, with Leduc’s Blake Roche putting one past Brendan Olson to put the Oil Kings up 1-0.

Leduc was able to net another power play goal eight minutes into the second period from Liam Gorman, but SEAC answered back four minutes later with a Carsyn Good marker.

Roche added his second of the game for the Oil Kings with 5:20 left in the period, before Jake Sloan beat Olson with just 32 seconds remaining to give Leduc a 4-1 lead at the intermission.

Early in the third, Leduc extended their lead to 5-1 with an unassisted goal from Drew Campbell.

Ty Moore and Tanner Gold later scored for the Tigers to close the chasm to 5-3, but Leduc responded with a Dylan Handel goal with less than six minutes remaining to open up a three-goal lead.

The Tigers picked up their play from there, with Roman Cherniak beating Leduc netminder Logan Willcott with 4:48 left to make it a 6-4 game.

Quintin Unreiner scored for SEAC with 54 seconds remaining to close the Oil Kings lead to one, but Leduc was able to run out the clock and pick up a thrilling 6-5 win over the Tigers.

Despite the loss, Cherniak had one of his best games of the season for SEAC with one goal and four points.

As for Olson, he was credited with the loss with six goals allowed on 41 shots against.

Seeing their record fall to 6-12-2 on the year, the Tigers wrap up their weekend home stand against the Okotoks AAA Oilers at the Hockey Hounds rink at 12:00 pm on Sunday.

It was a rough afternoon for the SEAC Minor Midget Tigers as well, dropping a 7-1 decision to the AC Avalanche to finish the 2017 portion of their schedule at 2-18-1.

The Midget Tigers are back on the ice on January 6, when they visit the CNHA Canucks in Calgary.
