INTERVIEWS: Cubs All-Stars stress an important weekend

MEDICINE HAT, AB — The Medicine Hat Travelodge Cubs are looking to cap 2017 off on good footing, and it appears they’re already doing that.

Earlier this week, CHAT Sports reported three members of the Junior B squad had been named to the HJHL’s South Division All-Star Team.

Defenceman Josh Schafer will join fellow teammates Noah Irvine and Quinten Karg in Okotoks on January 7th for the match. The top 20 players from both the north and south divisions will square off for all-star supremacy.

But the local honorees know there’s plenty of work left to do before then.

On Saturday, the Cubs welcome the Strathmore Wheatland Kings to the Kinplex before shipping up to Blackfalds to battle the Wrangles on Sunday.

The Kings sit six points up on the last-place Cubs for the final playoff position in the South.

CHAT Sports caught up with all-stars Irvine and Karg to hear their thoughts on being named to Team South, and to examine the importance of these last few games ahead of the Christmas break.

Saturday’s match against Strathmore is set for 8:45 p.m. from Kinplex I.
