Catholic Board votes to consider closing École St. Thomas d’Aquin

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The Medicine Hat Catholic Board of Education has voted to consider closing one of its elementary schools.

During Tuesday night’s meeting, the board voted to approve a motion to consider closing École St. Thomas d’Aquin and transferring the French Immersion program to St. John Paul II School, according to a news release.

St. John Paul II School is currently under construction and is expected to open in 2018.

The board has also scheduled a public meeting for January 8 for parents, community and the board to discuss the potential closure. A time and location for the meeting has not yet been finalized.
