MEDICINE HAT, AB — Trial dates have been set for two men charged following an alleged kidnapping and assault last year.

Travis Seitz 27, and Jesse Summers 35, were both arrested on November 17, 2016, following an alleged assault two days earlier.

According to a news release, the Medicine Hat Police Service received a complaint regarding a male that was allegedly kidnapped and assaulted from a residence in the 500 block of 12 Street SW. The victim was allegedly confronted and assaulted by two males in the home, who prevented him from leaving. Several personal items belonging to the victim were also allegedly stolen from the home.

At one point, the two males allegedly took the man against his will to a rural location, where the assault continued, before being taken back to the residence. The man was able to escape from the home and seek assistance.

Summers and Seitz were each charged with kidnapping, robbery and common assault in connection with the incident.

Summers will go on trial in Medicine Hat on Feb. 6, 2018, while Seitz will go to trial on April 25, 2018.
