MEDICINE HAT, AB – Medicine Hat city council will meet for the first time in December on Monday, and a packed agenda is on the books for the meeting.

The meeting will see three separate presentations to council

The first presentation on the list is regarding a bid for the 2019 World U17 Hockey Challenge. Ron Webb and Terry Bartman, chair and co-chair of the bid committee, will present their proposal to city council, with the goal of receiving municipal support for the bid. The city previously bid for the 2018 tournament, but were not selected.

The second presentation will be an update on the progress of the seniors’ centre in Medicine Hat, which is being built on the site of the former Veiner Centre. Scott Woodside, project manager with the city, will be speaking to council.

The energy and utilities division will also present an update to its 2018 capital budget during the meeting.

City council will also decide if it will enter into a lease agreement with Front Porch Classics Café and Catering to provide food service at the Medicine Hat Regional Airport. The development and infrastructure Committee approved the proposal from the company during its meeting on November 29. The previous food service provider at the airport asked for its lease to be terminated in October, which the city granted, according to minutes from the meeting.

The agenda can be accessed here.

The meeting is open to the public and begins at 6:30 p.m.
