MEDICINE HAT, AB — The job market in Medicine Hat took a small dip in November, according to the latest numbers released by Statistics Canada.

According to the report released Friday, the unemployment rate for the city was 6.3 per cent, up one per cent from October.

The agency always cautions against using a month-to-month comparison, because of the small sample size.

One year ago, the unemployment rate in Medicine Hat was 8.3 per cent.

According to the report, the Medicine Hat-Lethbridge region no longer has the lowest unemployment rate in the province. The region is reporting a 5.4 per cent unemployment rate, just behind Red Deer, which has a 5.3 per cent rate.

Nationally, Canada is reporting a 5.9 per cent unemployment rate, down from 6.3 in October.
