Jordan Taupert invited to World Junior A Challenge selection camp

MEDICINE HAT, AB — A Medicine Hat hockey player was among 60 players invited to a Team Canada selection camp ahead of the 2017 World Junior A Challenge.

Jordan Taupert, who plays for the Drumheller Dragons in the Alberta Junior Hockey League, was among the players in Western Canada named to the Team Canada West selection camp on Monday.

Taupert currently leads the Dragons in scoring this season, with 13 goals and 19 assists in 25 games.

The selection camp is made up of British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL), Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL), Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL), Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL), and Superior International Junior Hockey League (SIJHL).

Notably, no members of the Brooks Bandits were invited to attend the camp this year.

The camp runs from Dec. 2-5 in Calgary.

The World Junior A Challenge runs Dec. 10-16 in Truro, Nova Scotia, with Team Canada West opens the tournament on Dec. 10 against the Czech Republic.
