STETTLER, AB – Another setback for the Medicine Hat Travelodge Cubs on Saturday night, losing their third straight game on the road against the Stettler Lightning.

Stettler opened up the scoring a little over seven minutes into the first period, as Dylan Houston put one past Josh Breznik to give the Lightning a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes of play.

That Lightning lead doubled midway through the second period, when Quade Cassidy scored his first of the season to put the Cubs down 2-0.

Medicine Hat tried to claw their way back early in the third, but Cassidy added some insurance with his second of the game 1:29 into the third to make it a 3-0 game.

Stettler capped things off with an Erik Rost goal with 9:03 left in the game to seal a 4-0 shutout win for the Lightning.

Breznik was peppered with 49 shots against on the night, making 45 saves in the loss.

Lightning goaltender Jordan McCallum registered his first shutout of the season with 28 saves, while Stettler outshot Medicine Hat by a 49-28 count.

Losing their third straight contest, the Cubs have dropped their record to 6-9 on the year and sit alone in last place in the South Division with 12 points.

The road trip continues on Friday night for Medicine Hat, when they face the top team in the Heritage Junior Hockey League in the Airdrie Thunder at 8:00 pm.
