SEAC Tigers fall to 2-2 at Hounds Tournament, finals set

MEDICINE HAT, AB – No finals appearance for the SEAC Bantam AAA Tigers in their home tournament, but they will wrap up a successful four days of action on Sunday.

The Tigers falling by a 5-1 score to Delta on Saturday, dropping their overall record on the tournament to 2-2.

SEAC will get one more send-off from the hometown fans on Sunday afternoon however, as they will conclude their tournament against Fort Saskatchewan at noon at the Kinplex.

Meanwhile, the finals at the Hockey Hounds Tournament have been set following Saturday night’s semi-final matchups.

Sherwood Park scored a late third period marker to vault themselves past Prince Albert 4-3 and into the final, where they will meet St. George’s School who defeated Delta 3-1.

Opening faceoff for the gold medal match will also be held at the Kinplex with game time set for 12:30 pm.

All-star awards were also handed out by the tournament organizers, with St. George’s School’s Trevor Wong taking home Player of the Tournament, Most Points, All-Star Forward, and MVP honours with 11 goals and 15 points.

Tigers forward Caleb Wyrostok won the SEAC Scholarship, St. George’s Oliver Gabrielson took home Best Defenceman, Most Outstanding Goalie went to Terris Lappenbush from Grand Peace, Prince Albert captain Gabe Klassen was named Most Sportsmanlike, St. George’s School bench boss Yogi Svejkovsky was took home Best Coach, and the Fort Saskatchewan Rangers were named Most Sportsmanlike Team.

Tournament all-star honours went to Wong (St. George’s School), Klassen (Prince Albert), Gabrielson (St. George’s School), Lappenbush (Grand Peace), Koehn Zemmer (Spruce Grove), and Joe Arntsen (Swift Current).

As for the SEAC Midget 15s, they took home a 6-4 win over the AC Avalanche from Cochrane on Saturday.

They’ll go for their third straight win on Sunday, when they hit the road for Calgary and will face the Bantam AAA Bisons at 4:45 pm.
