Strong showings for locals at Canadian Finals Rodeo

EDMONTON, AB – The Canadian Finals Rodeo wrapping up in the province’s capital on Sunday, with a number of locals placing high in the final results.

In tie-down roping, a pair of locals finishing in the top 10 teams with Medicine Hat’s Kevin Schreiner picking up fifth place, while Devin Wigemyr from Brooks finished in eighth.

Schreiner and his teammate Jesse Popescul each took home $14,662 for their efforts, while Wigemyr and his partner Roland McFadden each picked up almost $20,000 over the weekend.

Maple Creek’s Jared Parsonage competed in bull riding in Edmonton, bucked off in his final ride and winding up in sixth place overall.

Meanwhile in ladies barrel racing, Lynette Brodoway out of Brooks clocked in with a time 20.239 seconds and finishing ninth place in the standings.

CFR was a big weekend for Medicine Hat Stampede Queen Brittney Chomistek as well, as she was crowned Miss Rodeo Canada 2018.
