Remembrance Day services in southeast Alberta

MEDICINE HAT, AB — The following Remembrance Day ceremonies are taking place in the region today.

Medicine Hat

The Remembrance Day ceremony takes place at the Esplanade Saturday morning. Doors open at 8:30 a.m., with the service beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the Esplanade Theatre.

Following the service, a parade will travel down First Street SE to Riverside Veterans Memorial Park for the cenotaph service and laying of wreaths, which begins at 11 a.m.

First Street SE, including Finlay Bridge, will be closed to vehicle traffic from 8:30 a.m. until the service ends.

Medicine Hat Transit will be offering a shuttle for veterans and those with mobility issues leaving the Robertson Memorial Branch No. 17 legion starting at 8:30 a.m.

Redcliff

The Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 6 in Redcliff is hosting their Remembrance Day service at Parkside School beginning at 10 a.m.

The cenotaph service takes place in Royal Canadian Legion Memorial Park at 11 a.m.

Following the service, a reception will take place at the Legion (302 Broadway Avenue), beginning at noon.

Ralston

The town of Ralston’s Remembrance Day service takes place at the Ralston Theatre beginning at 10:20 a.m.

During the service, a vigil will be held at 10:40 a.m.

Brooks

In Brooks, the 239 Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron and the Brooks Legion #63 will host the Remembrance Day Service in the Field House at the JBS Canada Centre.

The wreath laying will take place at Veterans Centennial Park sfollowing the service, with lunch following at the Brooks Legion.
