VIDEO: Police investigating Crescent Heights bank robbery

Nov 9, 2017 | 6:28 PM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Medicine Hat police are investigating a robbery at a Crescent Heights bank Thursday night.

According to police, the robbery happened at 5:45 p.m. Police say a lone male entered the ATB Financial branch, brandished a weapon and demanded cash. The man left with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police are not releasing what kind of weapon was used or how much money was stolen, though there were no injuries reported.

Medicine Hat Police S/Sgt. Cory Both said they’re still trying to track down this suspect.

“We’re still looking for him,” said Both. “We got a basic description of 35 to 45-years-old, five-foot-seven, he was dressed in black and wearing sunglasses. So, anyone with information needs to contact us if they have anything that can help us out. Otherwise, our Priority Crimes team is actively investigating it and looking for a suspect.”

Despite coming on the same day as another bomb threat and following a string of bank robberies in October, Both said this is likely an unrelated incident.

“There is currently no link between the bomb threats or any other robberies,” he said. “We’re investigating this as a stand-alone incident. But, the investigators are not discounting that there might be a nexus.”

Anyone with information regarding this robbery is asked to contact the Medicine Hat Police Service at 403-529-8481.
