Bandits run win streak to six with 5-3 win over Camrose
BROOKS, AB – Nic Hamre (Ottawa, ON) led the way with 2 goals and an assist, as the Brooks Bandits (14-4-1) won their sixth consecutive game on Friday night, downing the Camrose Kodiaks (4-9-5) by a 5-3 final score at the Centennial Regional Arena in Brooks.
The win keeps the Bandits four points back of the Okotoks Oilers for first place in the AJHL South, while extending their lead over third-place Drumheller to eight points.
It took just 1:42 for the Bandits to open the scoring, when a Hamre shot from the left half boards was saved by Camrose goalie Landon Pavlisin, but the rebound was sticked right to a waiting Will Garin (Mound, MN) in the slot for a quick tap-in goal for his first as a Bandit and a 1-0 Brooks lead.
The Kodiaks equalized on the power play at the 8:54 mark when Matt Gervais beat Mitch Benson (Windsor, ON) on a top shelf screened shot from the high slot on the power play.
