Trial date set for August dangerous driving case

MEDICINE HAT, AB — A man arrested this summer after allegedly trying to drive his truck into a group of people in Terrace View will be going to trial next year.

Jamie Vorra made a brief court appearance in Medicine Hat Provincial Court on Thursday, where a trial date was set for March 12.

Vorra, 27, was arrested on August 13 following an incident on Terrace View N.E. According to police, a group of people were outside socializing on the street at approximately 1:30 a.m., when Vorra allegedly got into a truck and drove at a high rate of speed towards the group.

The truck stopped without hitting anybody, but a confrontation ensued. According to police, one person was allegedly grabbed by Vorra and dragged a short distance, suffering minor injuries.

Vorra was arrested at his home later that morning. He is facing charges of dangerous driving, assault with a weapon, uttering threats and breach of probation.

Vorra has pleaded not guilty to all of the charges.
