MEDICINE HAT, AB — Medicine Hat police are responded to another bomb threat at a Crescent Heights bank.

For the second time in less than a week, officers are stationed at the Servus Credit Union on Eighth Street Northwest.

Police confirming a threat was made Tuesday afternoon. Officers have closed down a section of the street, and are searching the area for any suspicious packages.

The area was closed until 5 p.m., when it was re-opened to traffic. An investigator remains on scene, and an update is expected tonight.

It’s the third bomb threat against a city bank in the last three weeks.

Last week, a passerby reported seeing a suspicious package in front of Servus Credit Union, which prompted the explosive disposal unit to be called in to dispose of the item. The package was described by police as an “unsophisticated mock explosive device.” The investigation is ongoing.

On Oct. 10, the ATB Financial Branch in Crescent Heights was evacuated after a bomb threat was called in. A suspicious backpack was found in the bank, but it was determined to not be an explosive.
