MEDICINE HAT, AB — The City of Medicine Hat has announced a date for when the previous transit system will return.

Starting November 27, the city will return to the old system. City Council approved “reverting back to the way the City provided Transit before the change while continuing to seek a better solution,” during its meeting on Sept. 18.

The change means all routes signage and schedules will return to what they were before Sept. 5, when the changes went into effect. Weekend and statutory holiday coverage, along with peak and non-peak services, are also returning to the previous system.

The city’s news release says the work also includes recruiting, hiring and training new drivers, creating new driver schedules, removing and relocating new signs ans bus shelters, and resuming operations at the downtown transit terminal. The work is ongoing.

With the previous schedule returning, weekend transit shuttle service for those who qualified under the Fair Entry Program will finish on November 26. Special Transit services are not impacted by the change.

The city is creating a new ride guide with maps and schedules, and will advertise the changes with posters, advertising and social media. Additionally, staff will be available near the Transit stops outside the Esplanade from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Nov. 14-24, to answer questions about routes and schedules.

Questions can be directed to the Transit line at 403-529-8214.
