Police investigating after man assaulted in Southview Drive apartment

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Medicine Hat police are investigating after a man was assaulted in an apartment Saturday night.

Police and EMS responded to the apartment complex located at 2399 Southview Drive at 7:20 p.m. after receiving the report of the assault. According to a news release, a suspect entered an apartment on the main floor, assaulting the male occupant. The man received significant injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening at this time, and was taken to hospital.

Police believe the suspect entered the apartment through a broken window.

A canine unit was called in to search the area, but was unable to locate a suspect.

Police say they believe the victim was the specific target of the offence and public safety is not at risk.
