Woman taken to hospital following Flats fire; police investigating

MEDICINE HAT, AB – A woman was taken to hospital after a fire in a Flats residence Friday night.
According to a news release from the Medicine Hat Police Service, police, fire and EMS responded to the fire at a home in the 1100 Block of Bridge Street Southeast. Once on scene, an adult woman had exited the residence with “significant” burns to her body and was transported to hospital.
The release says the burns are not believed to be life-threatening.
Police say there are suspicious circumstances around how the fire began, and the investigation is ongoing. The Medicine Hat Fire Service is assisting with the investigation.
