Medicine Hat man charged with impaired driving after hit and run

MEDICINE HAT, ALTA- A local man has been charged after a dramatic crash in Crescent Heights.

According to a police news release, a complaint of a hit and run was called in around 9:40 p.m. on Saturday night. The crash had taken place in the 900 block of Bassett Cresent NW, where a white Dodge Ram had struck the back end of a parked car, crushing in the vehicle’s rear end.

The Ram fled the scene, and the driver abandoned the truck close to the scene of the incident. Police contained the area, and located the man with a police dog. He had been hiding in a yard nearby.

The 43 year old man is now facing charges of impaired driving, refusing a breathalyzer test, dangerous driving, and breach of parole. His name will not be released yet, as the charges have not yet been sworn before the courts.

There were no injuries reported from the scene.
