Official Medicine Hat vote tally released

The numbers are confirmed for the municipal election in the Gas City.

First off, the voter turnout was estimated at a historical low of 34.61 per cent. A total of 17,308 votes were cast, including 1,618 at the advance polls.

The final results of the mayoral race had incumbent Ted Clugston winning with a landslide of 9,317 votes, making up 56.64 per cent of the votes cast for mayor.

For the eight council positions, the numbers added up as follows;

• ROBERT DUMANOWSKI 8,356 votes
• KRIS SAMRAJ 7,619 votes 
• PHIL TURNBULL 7,393 votes 
• JULIE CHRISTINE FRIESEN 7,056 votes 
• DARREN HIRSCH 6,957 votes 
• JIM TURNER 6,393 votes 
• BRIAN VARGA 6,115 votes 
• JAMIE MCINTOSH 6,083 votes

In the public school board, the following trustee’s were elected;

• RICK MASSINI 5,585 votes 
• DEBORAH FORBES 5,103 votes 
• CATHERINE WILSON FRASER 5,048 votes 
• CELINA SYMMONDS 5,036 votes 
• CAROLYN FREEMAN 4,316 votes 

In the Catholic school division, the following trustee’s were elected;

• DAVID LEAHY 1,976 votes 
• ROBERT RISLING 1,857 votes 
• PETER GRAD 1,819 votes 
• KATHY GLASGO 1,802 votes 
• RICHARD (DICK) MASTEL 1,768 votes
