UPDATE: ATB bank in Crescent Heights re-opens following bomb threats

MEDICINE HAT, AB — Medicine Hat police evacuated a bank in Crescent Heights after a bomb threat was called in Tuesday morning.

Police say they received a call shortly after 10 a.m., saying the threat was directed to one of the ATB Branches. The downtown and Carry Drive locations were both evacuated as a precaution, but were both determined to be safe.

Police were on scene at the ATB Financial location at Division Avenue. Employees were escorted out of the building during the incident.

According to police, a staff member at the bank noticed a backpack that had been left behind in the bank.

Police asked the public to avoid the bank as they investigate the threat.

Officers examined the backpack as a precaution. No explosives were found

As of 12:30 p.m., the bank has been cleared by police and is safe for the public to enter.

The incident remains under investigation, and no arrests were made.
