MEDICINE HAT, AB – The Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) have acquired 1998-born defenceman Jakob LaPointe (Leduc, AB) from the Lloydminster Bobcats in exchange for future considerations, the team announced today.

LaPointe, 19, joins the Bandits after spending the last two-plus seasons with the Calgary Hitmen of the Western Hockey League (WHL), where he dressed in 91 regular season games, registering 11 assists.

The 6’1”, 205lb defenceman began his Junior career with the Bobcats in the AJHL in 2014-15, scoring 5 assists in 40 games after graduating from the Leduc Oil Kings of the Alberta Minor Midget Hockey League (AMMHL), and adding 4 more points (1 goal, 3 assists) in 8 playoff games.

This comes on the heels of a pair of transactions by the Bandits this week, bringing in forward Matt Cassidy from the United States Hockey League and blueliner Cale List from the Pembroke Lumber Kings (CCHL).

The Bandits are next in action Friday night in Drayton Valley, taking on the Thunder at 7:30 PM. Their next home game is Monday, October 9th, at 4:00 PM, in a special Thanksgiving Day game against the Olds Grizzlys. Fans under 18 get in for free, with a free Skate with the Bandits following the game. Tickets are available online at tickets.brooksbandits.ca.
