MEDICINE HAT, AB — The Medicine Hat Tigers are adding some NHL level experience to the front office.

The club has announced the hiring of Carter Sears as the new Director of Player Personnel, taking over the roll most previously held by Darren Kruger.

“I am very enthused, and have a renewed sense of excitement by joining the Medicine Hat Tigers Hockey Club,” Sears said in a press release. “I look forward to what the future will bring; the start of another hockey journey.”

Sears brings more than 25 years of scouting experience to the Tigers organization, most recently working as a pro scout for the Winnipeg Jets for five seasons.

Before his shift to the NHL, Sears was a player for the Estevan Bruins of the WCHL, and served 13 seasons as the head scout for the Red Deer Rebels. His career highlight in Red Deer came in 2001 when the Rebels won the Memorial Cup.

Sears also helped the Kootenay ICE win the WHL Championship in 2011 as a scouting consultant.

“We are thrilled to have Carter join our staff,” added Tigers head coach and GM Shaun Clouston. “He brings a wealth of experience and expertise to a very important position within the organization. We look forward to working with Carter as we build toward the future.”
