Fortis working to restore rural power

SOUTHERN ALBERTA –  Fortis Alberta is working to restore power to rural customers across Southern Alberta, who were affected by the winter storm.

Crews have been brought in from across Alberta to get the power back on for an estimated five thousand customers.

That includes people in Seven Persons, Bow Island and Burdett as well as from Taber north to Brooks.

It was deemed to be too dangerous for crews to work overnight, and some special equipment was also needed to get access to some of the trouble spots.

Fortis says about ten thousand customers spent the night without power, but it anticipates that most everyone will have service restored by the end of today.

“If” that’s not possible, Fortis says it will make phone calls to the affected individuals.
